A proclamation from Mayor Ducim Tiristasteb

✌ WE’RE GOING TO PUT FISHBANNERS TO WORK AGAIN! FOR TOO LONG WE’VE RELIED ON IMPORTED ELVEN CHALK WHEN WE HAVE MASSIVE DEPOSITS RIGHT HERE AT HOME. I’M ANNOUNCING CONSTRUCTION OF A CHALK QUARRY THAT WILL PROVIDE FOR GENERATIONS TO COME! ✌

IF I’M GOING TO COMMAND ANY RESPECT HERE I’M GOING TO NEED A BETTER OFFICE. I WANT YOU TO RENOVATE THIS NICE CENTRAL AREA HERE AND—WHAT’S THAT? WE’VE RUN OUT OF CHALK TO REPLACE THE SMELLY PEAT WALLS?

A proclamation from Mayor Ducim Tiristasteb

✌ THANK YOU FOR SELECTING ME IN OUR COLONY’S FIRST EVER FREE DEMOCRATIC MAYORAL ELECTION. IT’S TIME TO MAKE FISHBANNERS GREAT AGAIN!✌

AS PROMISED REPEATEDLY DURING MY CAMPAIGN, MY FIRST EXECUTIVE ACTION IS TO BAN THE EXPORT OF TRACTION BENCHES. IT IS IMPERATIVE THAT WE NOT LET THIS CRUCIAL TECHNOLOGY FALL INTO THE HANDS OF GOBLIN TERRORISTS.

ALSO, WE’RE GOING TO BUILD A WALL!! GIVEN OUR COLONY’S HISTORY WITH WEREBEASTS AND AN ABUNDANCE OF WOOD RESOURCES, THIS IS NOT AN UNREASONABLE THING FOR US TO DO.

From the travel logs of Iñi Ulotosi, wandering Human Swordsman

From the moment I descended underground into Fishbanners, I felt uneasy.

Entrance to the colony takes you through a massive hallway, 40 feet across and the length of a polo field. Staring you in the face throughout the entire walk are two enormous wooden ballistae at the far end, seemingly ready to go off at a moment’s notice.

Once I got inside, the situation there didn’t help my mood. A pepper-haired old dwarf named Adil Amtosid is nominally in charge of defense in Fishbanners (and consequently its ballistae), but I never got to talk to him—he sounded half a lunatic as he refused me, never looking up from his secret project at the leather works. Even the other dwarfs don’t seem to know what he’s up to.

The others don’t seem bothered. They spend their time drinking and listening to poetry and music in the common area, unconcerned with a massive amount of work orders piling up that their manager yells at them about.

I think I won’t dwell here long.

It looks like the frost season here is just over a month long – with the river thawed, I can finally stop listening to a thousand complaints about no water being available and get to work.

Dodok emerged from his workshop in a fit of rage, and clawed uncontrollably at the first person he saw. It took three other dwarves to blugeon him into submission. Luckily, only some minor injuries were sustained. I’ll have to take a look and see what I can do.
